Nutrition is not consistent through the population especially in food deserts that characterize many communities. Most people can’t afford healthy food. Cuts to programs that provide food to children - often their most nutritious meal of the day, doesn’t help. Perhaps if MAHA was a bit tougher on nutritional standards and additives the way we are on supposed election fraud and anti-vaxing, we might build

a healthier citizenry. I understand those who feel they have a right to every decision in their lives but public health has to take a precedent over personal bias. It’s like giving a ten year old the choice of going to school or not. Okay, maybe 15 year old. The fact you malign media at every turn and indirectly, undermine public health officials who have decades of work to substantiate the need for broad based vaccinations is scary. I’m not sure what you are deforming us into but the US is becoming an ugly place. As we move from we to me - the mantra of this admin, we will be more vulnerable to existential risks that once seemed only possible in some dystopian movie. For someone who loves his country and remembers more functional times, this entire episode is like a bad civics experiment. We’ve gone from hero generation to builders to prophets who know everything and are giving birth to a generation of cynics and nihilists. Great job.

It is good news that a healthy diet is so important to fending off measles. I would say this is important to fighting off any illness, wouldn't you?You state this while at the same time the maga/ Heritage plan of creating food insecurity is being implemented. Cutting off snap benefits for low income families. Firing food inspectors. Importing bad beef and adding it into Americans food chain, polluting our waters and cutting off our access to affordable health insurance. MAHA needs to talk to itself about how they are not helping Americans to become healthier.

MMR vaccination is a no-brainer when you compare the actual risks. For many children, measles isn't merely a few days of fever and rash. Based on pre-vaccine-era US surveillance, approximately 7%--9% of infected children developed otitis media, 1%–6% developed pneumonia, and 0.1% developed acute encephalitis, which often causes permanent brain damage. That's one in one thousand. About 0.1%–0.3% died, and SSPE, a fatal degenerative brain disease that can appear years later, occurred in roughly 4–11 cases per 100,000 measles infections. Hospitalization was (and is) also common, particularly in young children Now about one in four. Don't try to blame this on nutritional status - You're claiming that these Amish and Evangelical Christian children are undernourished.

The known serious adverse-event risks from MMR are dramatically lower. Febrile seizures occur in approximately 1 per 3,000–4,000 doses, are generally brief, and are not associated with long-term effects. Anaphylaxis occurs in roughly 2–14 per million doses, and thrombocytopenic purpura in approximately 1 per 30,000–40,000 doses. Fever and rash are relatively common but usually mild and self-limited. That does not mean vaccination has zero risk. It means the documented risks of the vaccine are far smaller than the risks of the disease it prevents. For a healthy child, choosing MMR is not a close call: it is accepting a very small, well-characterized risk to avoid a substantially larger risk of serious illness, permanent disability, or death.

Excellent article!

Very thorough!

Re-stacking

I held a Twitter space providing history of measles and known therapeutics being recommended by respected physicians, to request in the event of a positive diagnosis.

I interviewed Dr Richard Bartlett last year who was seeing lots of measles cases during the 2025 outbreak in Texas. It was his opinion that we are not experiencing “The Brady Bunch” American version of measles, but rather what appears to be a Third World country version that likely walked over the southern border during the mass invasion of the Biden/Harris administration, and therefore parents need to be prepared to request prescriptions like:

✔️Prophylactic antibiotic coverage to prevent secondary bacterial infection

&

✔️Budesonide for nebulization

In addition to supplementation with cod, liver oil/vitamin A and vitamin C and vitamin D and the typical standard of Care recommended by pediatricians.

Presently, as you’re aware, American standard of care only list:

Hydration, fever and pain control, rest and nutritional support, respiratory monitoring, treatment of complications, vitamin A for children, hospitalization when necessary, airborne isolation, public-health reporting, no routine antiviral therapy.”

Thanks again for your well written article

Modern medicine is based on fear. Fear sells things, plain and simple ... whether vaccines for illnesses which are self-limiting or antibiotics for non-life threatening diseases or mood changing pills that are impossible to discontinue.

Just a dairy vet here, but the immune system can withstand many challenges, even in herds of animals IF provided with; fresh air, sunshine, fresh clean water, species appropriate diet, and clean dry bedding. That's the true basis of immunity, regardless of species.

Good article. How can we get this article in the Washington Post, New York Times, etc. One of the problems is that the new doctors are not educated to this history as well as what truly happened with the polio vaccine. I also understand that a few of the measles deaths were not caused by measles. We still have censorship of the truth in this country.

In order to strengthen the immune system and protect against disease people should know:

Injecting non-nutritive substances , which do not belong in the human bloodstream... is a major STRESS! In order for the body to heal , all stress should be removed. The natural Immune system has to work harder to remove a lab-created product, which can severely damage the immune system; as the only thing which belongs in the bloodstream are nutrients to nourish the organs, glands and cells...providing energy and good health.

Dear Sina

You will excuse me, but if the measles is caused by a virus how can one say that the decline in measles deaths wasn't due to antibiotics. You are joking, right?

Besides, your reflection doesn't just apply to measles but to all infectious diseases, that is, they haven't disappeared thanks to vaccines but because of living conditions, sanitation, drinking water, housing, nutrition, hygiene, etc.

Although your article is not an opinion but a real fact, the media will keep worshiping the golden calf of vaccines as a result of the bribes from the corrupt pharmaceutical industry

Are ALL the illegal aliens in our country being vaccinated? THEY are the disease carriers. No wonder our country is falling into the abyss. I have read so many stories of poor children

dying from the vaccines. I wonder, if the medical field, ever pays the price. For the medical

field the vaccines pay to them a price.

Most outbreaks begin when an unvaccinated American travels to a country were measles is endemic, and returns home infected. Traditionally, these have been quite limited, because of our high vaccination rates - they burn out quickly. Not so much any more.

And for what it's worth, just about every country in Latin America has higher childhood MMR vaccination rates than the US, as do many "third world" countries; https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/countries-with-the-highest-measles-vaccination-rates.html

https://immunizationdata.who.int/global/wiise-detail-page/measles-vaccination-coverage

And we don't have immigrants coming in. That stopped 18 months ago - remember.

Lynn's avatar

Where are ALL the illegal aliens that already are in our Country? You know the ones

ojoebama let into our Country? I'd like to know how many of those children survived the vaccines in the third world countries. I wonder, if Bill Gates, knows the answer.

Lysenko's avatar

Wrong. Not for measles. We know this because CDC and state health departments do extensive contact tracing back to each index case.

Lynn's avatar

CDC can't be trusted. Why would anybody believe state health departments after their lies during COVID?
