I hope that I can safely continue using unrefined organic sunflower and grapeseed oils if only as ingredients in some baked items. I'm glad this article added the word "refined". I get so confused when everyone just says "seed oils" without mentioning its the refining that turns them bad.
of course, seed oils are not food, they destroy health, known for decades...

The swamp is deep and wide:
An exclusive review of Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) grants reveal nearly $350 million in taxpayer funds funneled into vaccine promotion campaigns to combat “misinformation” and “vaccine hesitancy.”
Many of these grants - which cover 40 states and 7 territories - focus on promoting vaccine use among children. Despite HHS removing the Hepatitis B vaccine from the children’s immunization schedule, million-dollar grants have gone towards promoting this vaccine in children.
In plain terms: public money is being used to change what Americans think. Skepticism itself is treated as a public health threat.
The 54 grants totaling $338.36 million began on July 1st 2025 and are slated to end June 30th, 2030.
Universal Vaccines
One state, Maine, is using the funds to roll out a Universal Adult Immunization program.
“A significant component of MIP’s future efforts involves developing a universal adult immunization program, ensuring equitable vaccine access for individuals over 19 while reducing healthcare costs,” summarizes the Maine grant. “Through sustained funding, MIP aims to safeguard public health by ensuring vaccine accessibility, countering misinformation, and maintaining high immunization rates across Maine,” it continues.
Children Are the Target
A major share of the funding focuses on child vaccination campaigns, including school-linked outreach and parent-directed messaging. Even more striking: several programs explicitly promote Hepatitis B vaccines for children, pouring millions into awareness and compliance campaigns.
Some grants are quite explicit: “increased access to vaccines for eligible children.”
Even unrefined seed oils can be bad for you. Sunflower oil in particular has high PUFA content which is omega six and it is not balanced out by omega-3’s so it can still cause inflammation in the body if you don’t add the omega 3s. Also, if you heat it, it breaks down the beneficial fats and antioxidants. Grapeseed oil is similar as well. It has the same omega issue. A lot of natural skin care products do use both of these topically and I don’t believe there’s an issue with doing that. Both of those oils should only be used in moderation and not on a regular basis.
Flour has changed though with the addition of *enrichment* with the worst offender being folic acid as a form of B9. It is basically poison for about half the population and leads to autism characteristics in many people. It needs to be removed from all foods.
Rather than focusing on the plants that the oils come from, we should be focusing on the process used to extract the oil! I am referring to HEXANE extraction, which is what makes the resulting oils unhealthy. Note that both the U.S. and EU allow hexane extraction, but regulatory cultures differ. Europe has stricter residue limits and better enforcement. THAT is what we need here, not the arbitrary banning of oils from certain plants.
Yes and no. Even seed oils that are cold, pressed and organic can still have negative impacts on the body. Inflammation especially. 100% agree with you though. The processing of these oils is a major concern.
Thank you Cate! I left my job in 2021 having refused the C19 mandate. Up till the lockdown I was doing 5 days a week at a fancy gym for 2 years. I was gung ho. A trainer told me to go easy on the tread mill! I was over the BMI line and HATED it. But did I lose the weight? Only in increments and only temporarily. I was a poster child for metabolic dysfunction.
After mandate retirement I was working on the house while listening to Megan Kelly’s episode 321 (I think) in which you educated me on the REASON seed oils are a problem. That conceptual confrontation is absolutely CRITICAL! I discussed it with my super-health oriented Mrs. We determined that almost everything in the grocery store is black-labeled highly processed lab food.
Over the next 4 months I lost 40 pounds … below college weight .. now steady for 4 years. Life style. Habits. Diet. And it was not even hard! Mid-good-BMI window.
I have been using olive oil , coconut oil , for 2 decades . and butter . but what really concerns me is our animals are being forced fed demon oils and feed , to fatten them up for slaughter .
On the topic of acreage devoted to soybean farming: I grew up in the 1980s and 1990s in southcentral Wisconsin and frequently drove through the countryside. There used to be many cows. Now there are not. There are still some small farms that have cows - and the occasional CAFO finishing thousands of them - but for the most part any route driven in the summertime takes you past cornstalks and soybeans. The change has been immense and is probably mostly incentivized by economics.
Since none of this has really been fully studied, much is unknown. But using logic, it's obvious that a non-organic oil, processed with solvents and high heat, placed in a plastic bottle, exposed to more heat and light, then heated to a high temp again for frying, has a whole set of issues. It's not fair to say that commercial/industrial processed oils are the same as an organic, cold-pressed unrefined oil sold in glass bottles. Yes, you can say that a person might have an imbalance of Omega Fatty Acids but that is another level of dietary change that most people aren't going to respond to.
And that imbalance of the omega can lead to body inflammation, which is one of the concerns with seated oils. Also, when you heat these oils, even if they are organic and cold pressed, you’re then breaking down the good fats and antioxidants.
Thank you! Great review of how embedded seed oils are in America's food system and why the science is not there to show their harm. Hoping but braced for what the Guidelines may or may not say about food quality, meaning HOW a food is grown. Might we one day get guidance to eat SOUL foods: seasonal, organic, unprocessed, and local?
Y'all always talk about fast food ingredients being cheaper. Probably true today. One wonders how much less expensive say olive oil would be if we devoted 10 million acres to raise olive trees.
The research of these oils needs to be highly controlled or the researchers themselves kept secret. Part of the reason we are in this predicament is due to researchers being paid off or told what their research must show versus what the truth actually is. Government researchers and higher education researchers have been bought and sold too many times. If the researchers prefer filling their pockets over showing the truth, the research they do is all for naught.
What I'd like to see is more information about grapeseed oil. Grapeseed oil has been pitched as a healthy alternative to the common seed oils. So is grapeseed oil really as bad as the others? Or is usage of a bit of grapeseed oil "just fine"? I need to find time to research this.
of course, seed oils are not food, they destroy health, known for decades...

It depends on whether they're refined or unrefined. Unrefined versions are the healthiest, but have a lower smoke point (so, best for lower/medium temp sauteing/roasting/baking), while their refined versions have higher smoke points (so, best for higher temp searing/frying/grilling). Olive (extra virgin/unrefined) is the healthiest for low/med temp cooking, while avocado is best (healthiest) for high temp cooking. Ghee is also great for that, which is the "refined" version of butter. Of course, taste preferences are also a factor: unrefined = stronger flavor; refined = milder (or no) flavor.
I hope that I can safely continue using unrefined organic sunflower and grapeseed oils if only as ingredients in some baked items. I'm glad this article added the word "refined". I get so confused when everyone just says "seed oils" without mentioning its the refining that turns them bad.

Are the following safe: peanut , sesame, avocado, coconut oils?
I believe Linoleic acid is the biggest problem, and here is a chart I received recently.
I'm not sure it can be posted...I'll have to see if this works

In my opinion, avocado and coconut oils are very healthy.
