sadly, the 'autism community' is also deeply divided, along more than a few lines. first there's the 'born that way' and they celebrate it. I doubt any of them like Bobby because admitting the environmental exposure causation might mean they have to DO something for their kids (besides cute 'awareness memes and psych drugs). then there's us warrior moms, who have blazed our own trails out of necessity since mainstream medicine is in deep & acrimonious denial of the problem and its medical origins. the latter group is the one that Bobby resonates with but even WE are divided along political lines. but the biggest hurdle, I find, is that most of MY community is too overwhelmed and exhausted, on a daily basis, caring for our families, to put any effort into politics.

I'm sure you 'get it', Mr Conte.

My beloved 24 year old son Jack Shockley was shot and killed August 12, 2020. There were riots for 2 nights in Indianapolis after the death of George Floyd. Our mayor did not allow our police to intervene and violence has since spiraled out of control. We now have teens killing teens in record numbers.

I invite you to come to Indianapolis on April 4 to commemorate the leadership your father provided on the tragic death of Martin Luther King Jr. We need your leadership and ability to bring people together in our hurting city. Our family was shattered when my son was killed. We mourn, our city mourns for the loss of so many. Please consider coming to Indianapolis where your father’s message continues to resonate so profoundly along with Martin Luther King. We need you, a new generation needs to hear your father’s message of peace and hope for a better tomorrow.
