Im looking forward to reading your book Cheryl. I cant believe how mean hearted and spiteful people can be. what happed to kindness to our fellow humans. You have gone through so much and i respect you for being transparent knowing how cruel, ruthless and barbaric some people can be.
I pray that your book is a bestseller!! Perhaps that success will humble and humiliate all the jealous Karen’s out there. GOD BLESS YOU 🙏
Ha! Your comment here provides the perfect example of the point of her memoir: "Her story is about navigating a world where people are no longer appreciated for their character or intent, but by perceived allegiance to one side or the other."
Thank you, Catherine. I recently wrote about politics and friendship on my Substack. Not pushing my piece, but this is something that, at 73 and having lost friendships over politics and the Covid vax, I've thought a lot about. When it comes to Hollywood, I grew up in LA and 99% of those people don't know what a friend is, unless that friend is super connected and super successful. And the moment they are no longer useful, they're not a friend. Certainly, Cheryl Hines must have known that these people who've dropped her and now rag on her for The View were never friends to begin with. Her husband must have told her that a million times! In his case, family isn't loyal either! I'm not going to bother with her book. I'd have more respect for Cheryl if she'd behave like Sydney Sweeney, who does her Hollywood work, lets them rag on her for being a registered Republican — and says repeatedly that her real friends aren't in Hollywood so why should she care what they think? Brava, Sydney. Cheryl, you can't grow a pair, so borrow Bobby's iron balls. My piece “What's Politics Got to Do with Friendship?” Is here: https://pollysnewsletter.substack.com/p/whats-politics-got-to-do-with-friendship
Not sure with what you take issue in this woman's doing this book? For many people, particularly highly privileged folks, coming face to face with hostile belief systems is a challenge and often results in new learning. In this case it seems writing this book was maybe cathartic for Hines, but this essay seems to say she wishes to share what she has learned and where she found her strength. These types of books often serve to give courage to others. So would be interested in why her doing this book is so rankling to you?
I can say for me this essay speaks to those with high privilege who discover that status is not a shield for real principles. That privilege might, OTH, provide the self confidence to confront the mask of privilege.
Tanya, I appreciate your reply. I’m not rankled. And I don’t fault Cheryl Hines for being privileged because being married to a Kennedy is a stressful form of privilege. And Sydney Sweeney is blessed with the kind of face and figure that make millions, so she’s privileged. Hines’ record is just an odd one for me, that’s all. I don’t find a solid core of strength in the woman. I don’t know if she’ll stand for the what she stands for now tomorrow. She has wavered a great deal. But if you and others find her inspiring, that’s great.

I watched her interview with Tucker Carlson, where she talks about a lot of this. Great conversation!
Does Cheryl write about the time the invitations to her party allegedly said that covid vax certificates were required?
Maybe you should buy the book and find out..
Thank you David. Exactly, typical Hollyweird. Actors, remember that folks.

Wow-didn’t know that!!!!

Thank you for the review, Catherine. Sounds like a story many of us can relate to!
Thank you Cheryl Hines for helping to ground us in courageous thinking!
WHY IS THE GOVERNMENT GIVING FREE PROMOS FOR A NON GOVERNMENT WORKER?
?????
Glad to hear that she's a quality human being especially since she's not much of an actress.
