President Trump is doing much better than most people his age in my community (physically and mentally). He’s accomplishing more at his present age than many younger people. Power to him. (RFK is an exemplary human. Walks his talk and gets things done, while creating advocates along the way. Amazing!).
Is it really possible that the democratic people will align with these corrupt media reports? I believe the public will see the wisdom in improving the health of their children. If so, that may be the final nail in the coffin of legacy media. One can hope.
I was in elementary school in the 1960s. Those tests (which were not the exact ones mentioned in the article), and how POORLY I did on many, has been a significant source of inspiration for me to help myself preserve and improve my own health and life over my now 67 years. It was decidedly the best aspect of my "healthcare" back then, when most of what had been going on 'for me' (supposedly) in doctors' offices and surgical suites seemed to range from making no difference to making me worse.
I was young enough my gym class was still coed. No one worried about the fact the boys, in general, did better than the girls because no one was trying to "win" anything or have a "fight" about it. (i.e. Toxic competitiveness had not yet taken over as one of America's worst chronic illnesses.) You simply learned to measure yourself, and take pride in both the attempt, and any improvement over time.
In my classes, there wasn't any push about this being something the President was recommending, either. I hope today's teachers can manage to keep it that way (and keep politics, including their own, out of elementary classrooms--as it should be ALWAYS...for the sake of the kids.)
I was a kid when JFK initiated the first fitness regime. Boy did I hate it but boy was he right! Glad to see American health policy moving in the right direction for a change!
What a great initiative. I remember the activities I performed in middle school in the late 1950s. It helped to encourage the students to be the best they could be. It helped to promote that mindset for me all my life.
I was in elementary school in the 60’s and hated gym. Being timed to perform gave me anxiety and I wasn’t particularly athletic. I don’t think traditional fitness tests will serve kids. I think it’s a poor concept considering the health of children and the number of kids on pharmaceutical drugs. I agree there should be something in place but a more innovative program. I teach fitness and a healthier lifestyle as an adult but my love for it didn’t evolve out of “gym class.”

It is a pity; but let them find fault. The more they do, the more Americans they lose.

One can PRAY!!
If kids' health cannot unite us, what can?

This is great news!

I think that “fitness test” should start with the senate. You fail-you’re out.
