Probably should remove the word "harmful" and just ban pesticides. Don't use anything until it is proven safe "beyond a questionable doubt".

I agree so very much.

Their criteria for harmful need to be fixed, even. So much about cumulative exposure and bioload effects aren't considered. Also the gut biome and diseases that aren't yet defined are both candidates for being affected by pesticides.

"Harmful" is too vague. Just like the mRNA shots were "safe and effective" - it very much depends on who is making the determination!

Oh that phrase is so bad: according to the technical literature for the public health domain, "safe and effective" doesn't mean either! It's kind of internally referential. i forget exactly what the referents are, but they can be revised just by choosing different comparators. But they didn't happen to mention that it's a technical term which only looks like standard English, did they?!

A bit of common sense would be really good for humanity.

Unfortunately with a population this big, without pesticides (both synthetic and "organic") there would be famine.

This is definitely an interesting topic. There are different viewpoints. Many people think population is of no concern and we can double, triple or quadruple the population of the world. (which personally I think would be a disaster)

Certainly it would be a huge shift to abandon "factory farming" which the world depends on now, but certainly some would argue that if we properly cared for the land we could do much better (without fertilizers and pesticides).

I don't honestly know myself, I think we need to try a gradual shift to see if we can be successful in weaning ourselves off our toxic farming processes.

How acquainted are you with growing food in this prolific earth when its soil is healthy?

Creative thinking, which is the divine spark of god in all of us, can figure this out without destroying our soil, water, air.

Blah blah blah

Talk talk talk

Nothing really changes

There should be ANY use of ANY toxic pesticides or herbicides in the first place. Silly little distractions like this, try to show ‘progress’, and obscure the fact that we’re already in such a bad place.

...Everyone here knows that we're already in a really bad place. We're trying to get out of the bad place.

It's folks like Blah-Blah C Manny who keep us trapped in the bad places. All they can do is point fingers & name call. I doubt she - or people like her - are doing ANYTHING to improve ANY part of our lives.

None of the artificial pesticides and fertilizers were ever good. They are all harmful . There is no doubt. Everything was already tested long time ago but hidden by big Corporations. There is plenty of evidence.

Why ban only synthetic pesticides/herbicides that are harmful? Why not ban the organic ones also?

P.S. the opinion of anyone who thinks glyphosate causes cancer should be thrown out of this conversation: https://thescamdoctor.substack.com/p/glyphosate-does-not-cause-cancer?r=6hgshq

Well that is certainly an unexpected surprise that REPUBLICANS from ...TEXAS would care about pesticide use. As someone squarely on the Left from which the countercultural movements arose to contest pesticides, starting with Rachel Carson et al, it is encouraging that the Left and the Right somewhere might find some common ground on something.

But don't forget : we fought for it first ,with ferocious resistance from the Right all along over the last decades , and having to settle with tepid "reasonable " compromises implimented by the Left of Centre who had the power to do so. We on the more radical and truly reasonable and revolutionary Left did not have that power. However, the still leftist RFK Jr. seems to have made some breakthrough , and that is great. But I still do not think he will last. Either Agribusiness will get to him, or Trump will pull a... Trump and give him the boot at some point. Because Trump does not give a damm about pesticides. He only puts up with RFK Jr because he need his followers' votes. If that changes , good bye Charlie for RFK Jr.
