I was thinking about what to say today, and then I was thinking maybe I’ll start with a story that some of you guys haven’t heard. When my daughter was about four years old, I remember that we had a party in my apartment on the Upper West Side in New York City. We had 50, 60 people there. It was very civilized. My daughter was wearing a white dress and she was so incredibly beautiful and calm and sweet. And she was carrying around a little tray. And I remember that really clearly. And a bunch of people came up to me as they had at her school many times and asked me what we do to make her so sweet, so friendly, so generous, so calm. And I, of course, had to give all the credit to my ex-wife, Helena Hjalmarsson.

But then, a few weeks later, my daughter got six vaccines in one day for, I think, for 12 viruses. And she had a massive seizure. She regressed very quickly — so much so that the mother of one of her friends, who lived in our building, a co-op on West Eighty-First Street, ran up to me and said, ‘What happened to your daughter’?

What had happened to her is that she suddenly just turned into a different person. She was speaking pretty well in Swedish and in English. She was doing great in school. She was very happy, very outgoing, had a lot of friends — and then she wasn’t able to speak in any language. She lost all of her previously acquired skills, and she just was screaming and upset and biting herself and running in front of things and had serious neurological damage, probably from the seizures.

It started with one massive seizure, and then it turned into a seizure disorder. And so she wasn’t able to tell the difference between hot and cold. She was just in really bad shape. And that was kind of day and night for a very long time.

I was told by a lot of people that what I had seen with my own eyes never happened. And that, of course, has a big impact on how you see the world.

I’ve been a book publisher for a while. And like Mary [Holland] said, I run Skyhorse Publishing. We have published about 12,000 books and have a whole bunch of imprints. I used to be friends with a lot of people in book publishing, too. I used to go out to lunch with the heads of big publishing companies. But I’ve lost all of those friendships because, basically, once again, what I watched happen and then what I heard from so many other people — [that it] actually didn’t happen and that I’d gone off the deep end.

What I realized then is that kind of thing can be true in all kinds of areas. And then I began to publish books that challenged the status quo or the prevailing views in all kind of areas and published hundreds and hundreds of books that just make people angry. But I think that’s a good thing and it sort of led me to the point where I thought, ‘Why do people read books? What’s the point of books? If you’re going to open a book and know what you’re going to think after you’re done reading it, then you have no business reading, right?’ Like what’s the point of it? If you can tell from the cover that this is a book that’s going to confirm all your biases, then you should just stop. You should save yourself the five hours; there are plenty of other things you can do. Spend the time with your family, go to the gym, do something else meaningful.

That became my kind of publishing motto — that books should really challenge everything, that they should make you question everything, and that everything ought to be on the table. That we don’t know the truth, and that if you believe in science, there of course is no truth. And there’s constant change, and there’s innovation.

But virtually everybody in America knows, as a fact, maybe one of the most important facts in their lives — because it gets more coverage from more news organizations than any subject that I can think of — and that fact is: every vaccine made in the past, or that will be made in the future, or anything that you call a vaccine that might not have been called a vaccine in the past, because the definition, as many of us in this room know, has changed five times. All of those vaccines are safe and effective. They’re automatically safe and effective.

There was a New York Times article where I think it was Aaron Siri who said that one of the polio vaccines, with some quick comment, was obviously much less safe than the other five. And then there’s an article that comes out right away that says Bobby Kennedy is an anti-vaxxer because his friend said that 1 of 6 products was worse than the others 5. That’s crazy, that’s insane, that’s dangerous.

We all know, and any rational person ought to know, that you could take any product, of any kind, and line them up, and one of them is better than all of the others, obviously. There’s an old quote, I think it’s from Copernicus, that says: ‘my life is a dedication to the truth that around every circle, another can be drawn.’ The idea is: we can always do better. Even if at one time vaccines were relatively safe, and even if they were the best we could do at the time, we all should be open-minded with these products — and with any other product — that we could do a better job.

One of the reasons that we don’t do a better job is because there’s a 1986 Act that gives a liability shield to every vaccine company in the country, saying that you can’t sue them. We know that big pharmaceutical companies are the most criminally prosecuted companies in the country. That’s not me saying it. That’s just from court records, that they’ve received more criminal fines than any other group of companies. But we’re supposed to believe that everything that they do is perfect?

That makes me think about running into Andy Wakefield when I was walking in. He was like Bobby Kennedy is today. When I first met Andy — I think it was 2013. At the time, he was probably the most vilified doctor on the planet. And it all kind of happened quickly. And I got to know him, and I listened to him, and I thought he was really smart and sharp. And I read through a book that he had written. And I thought, you know, this is really striking. This is a story that’s going to change people’s minds. That was 13 years ago.

What happened next was that he went on — I think it was the Today Show. And I think that he thought, like a lot of people think, that the media is relatively fair. He gets on, and he’s ready for a real conversation . . . and what happened is I think they let him say three words, and then they lectured him for a couple of minutes about ‘misinformation’ and being a great danger to children, and then asked him to leave.

In his book there’s a great little anecdote that I think is a real teaching story: when he was being vilified and attacked and prosecuted by the UK government, they were able to add to a graduating class test … This is the big High School test [in England] that determines which college you’re going to go to – and has a big impact on the rest of your life. There was a question on that test that very year that asked, ‘Who is the now discredited doctor who falsely claimed that there was a connection between vaccines and autism?’ And the amazing thing about that is that you were sort of at a point — it’s almost like you’re trying to get into a nightclub and you have to get past people and you couldn’t get in. You couldn’t get into the system if you didn’t know the answer to that question.

That’s just a little piece of a whole spectrum of tactics to indoctrinate people. And I think that since then, I really started to learn the level of indoctrination prevalent in this country, where people think Bobby Kennedy is a danger. You think about that and for a long time you could read in every newspaper in the country about how dangerous and scary Bobby Kennedy’s misinformation was — his bad theories, his twisted logic. You could read stories that he did something when he was young, that young people do. He had a tough childhood. And when your father and your uncle get assassinated, you know that’s not gonna have no impact on you. So he had a colorful early life. But then he develops into this incredible human being with such integrity and such honesty, and such lack of care for himself, that he’s just dedicated to protecting children at incredible cost to himself.

The question then is: Who is he a danger to? We know that these big pharmaceutical companies are the most criminal organizations in the country. We know that Big Food companies aren’t far behind. We know a very small number of people in the United States die each year from infectious disease. We also know that the media covers a single measles death like it’s Armageddon. Even if they’re comorbidities, even if there’s a story that’s contradictory, even if you can’t get any of the facts, you just hear ‘measles.’

I would say: anytime you hear the word ‘measles’ in the media, you should think psy- op. You should think: this is a story meant to control what I think, what I do, what I believe and what my attitude towards Bobby Kennedy ought to be. The idea then is that from the things, the products that these companies make — Big Pharma, Big Food — more than 1.2 million people die each year from things that are 85% preventable. And this chronic disease epidemic that comes from these products costs 90% of our medical cost for the year. And then we think, well, what does that really mean? Then you hear this other statistic that we spend two and a half to three times what any other country on the planet spends on health care. And in almost every category, we have the worst health outcomes. And you think: how could that be possible? You’re supposed to get what you pay for, right?

If you’re spending all that money, how is it that, in every category, out of 30 industrialized countries we’re number 27, number 28, number 30, number 24, but in total we’re at the very bottom. And so I would say that that’s the kind of corruption tax that everybody in this country has been subjected to for the last generation.

If you have any logic whatsoever, you would know that the system is kind of set up just to make money, that the reason that somebody like Dr. Fauci can fail in every conceivable way and still get more and more power – over 50 years — still get a bigger and bigger salary, still hang out with more and more famous people and go on more tv shows, even though you know he’s brought in to deal with allergies, but allergies are a hockey stick during the time that he’s in charge, an obesity hockey stick you know off the charts goes from, 10, 12% to... 30, 40%, all the numbers just get astronomically worse. So how can that happen? And the answer is that somebody like Bobby Kennedy, who’s working for the American public and trying to protect our children, he’s a ‘danger’ to a group of companies and to a way of life and to government agencies that are captured by those companies.

We and Bobby Kennedy are working for families and for children. Dr. Fauci was judged by the benefit that he gave to those companies and to that system that was created to extract money from people with a total disregard for health outcomes, because there’s no way — in any company, any organization, any government agency — in our minds, we would think: somebody’s going to look at the outcomes. Somebody’s going to say, ‘I will give you a raise if you have a better outcome. I’m going to give you better job if you’ve succeeded in something.’ Obviously it looked like, for Fauci and for those companies, and for the agencies that were bribed by those companies, and the politicians who were bribe by them, that Fauci was succeeding.

So, Bobby Kennedy is a big danger to that system. And he’s breaking that system down in area after area. And if you think about how powerful these companies have become and how many lobbyists they have and how much politicians in positions of real power, how many people at agencies have been funded by them, have been supported by them, have received donations from them, you can see that that’s going to be a difficult system to dismantle.

Today’s system is like Chicago in the 1930s — where everything, all the judges, all the politicians, were owned by the mafia. In a way, Big Pharma and Big Food are mafia.

There are a lot of people out there who are saying, ‘Why isn’t Bobby doing more? Why hasn’t he fixed everything immediately?’ And that’s a great question. I love that. You guys should keep yelling and screaming and saying, ‘Hey, Bobby, do more. Fix more. Solve everything. I don’t want anything to go wrong in my life for the rest of my life.’

Bobby Kennedy has power now. But the forces that he’s up against and the progress that he has made in the face of those forces is just unprecedented.

I think in area after area we’re told that school lunches can’t be healthy, that it’s racist to want healthy school lunches. It’s classist, that poor people can’t afford to have healthy food. But the problem with that? It’s another story that comes from the companies that benefit from that narrative.

We also know that in countries all around the world, kids eat healthy, whole, real food for lunches at a fraction of the cost. The Japanese government was able to find a way to get healthy, real food to every student and every school in the entire country for half the price of our school lunches. So, you think about that. That whole narrative — that’s all a lie. It’s not about money. Like I said, we all know that we spend three times on health care what any other country spends, and our health outcomes are worse. We spend now two times on school lunches, and we get food that causes chronic disease. We send people to the hospital, and they eat ultra-processed food, food with dyes in it, food with 10,000 chemicals, when in Europe there are only something like 300 chemicals that are legal to put into food.

Everything in this country over the last generation has just been connected to money, but also to the false narratives that support that system and so the question is how does that change? These companies have literally trillions of dollars and they’re going to do everything that makes sense to them, and one of the things they’re going do is say, ‘Well, if our income from this group of products is this and it’s going to cost us this much money to fight Bobby Kennedy, that’s a good deal. Like maybe we can actually win. Maybe we can stall. Maybe we wait them out.’ And then we’ll get probably say, ‘what if we fund Democrats?’

Because Big Pharma doesn’t care about left or right, or right or wrong. They just care about selling their products and making as much money as they can. So, they would say, “Well, what if we fund Democrats and we win the midterms, right? What’s going to happen then? Maybe then we can promise to do a lot of things. We can take baby steps, and then as soon as Bobby has a little bit less power, as soon as he’s being dragged into congressional hearings, we can roll it all back.’

That’s a playbook, and these companies have a lot tricks, a very complex set of steps that they take to get the outcomes that they want — and they invent new ones all the time, and the latest is that they’re adopting MAHA terminology, saying ‘we agree with you on all these different things’ because if you can’t beat somebody then you try to co-opt them and you see that kind of thing with peptides now.

My feeling is that one must win in the marketplace of ideas, and one of the things that stands in the way of that is corruption, propaganda, and all of these false narratives. And you know, if you don’t have liability shields, then that’s a kind of a safety signal that is sent out. And if you have a liability shield, then there’s no signal, because nobody has anything to force them to do something different.

People sometimes say that MAHA or CHD or any of these big sorts of constellations of aligned organizations — that they’re anti-business. And I would say: we’re more pro-business than any group of companies because we want things. Because we want things to progress. We want real science. And real science means that you can challenge everything and that there’s an incentive to challenge things. And that if you challenge things and you succeed and you create a better product, then you’re going to win. And then people are gonna buy your product. They’re going to know about the side effects that come from it. They’re going to have to pay for the damage of the side-effects. And, you know, Bobby Kennedy knew that.

When Bobby was trying to, in 1999, when he was one of Time Magazine’s “heroes of the planet” for his environmental work, he was pro-business then and he’s pro-business now. He realized that if companies had to pay for their pollution, they would pollute less. And that of course makes sense. If a vaccine company has to pay, they’re going to make safer vaccines. If some vaccines can’t be made safely, they’re going to stop making them. And they’re going to make some of those decisions based on their liability. The same, I think, will be true with pesticides, that if you have glyphosate in every bit of water in the country, not only do we lose all of our choice, because we can’t choose whether to have glyphosate or not have glyphosate. This is a product made by a company. Because it’s ubiquitous, we have some choice left but that choice is between things that are not good. We can choose between different types of sodas or different types of French fries or different brands of fast food, but to have a real choice you need that real liability, so our media really challenges companies.

If you look at the failure of the media in this country, the failure of investigative journalism over the last generation, it’s really just died. And many of you here who are journalists, I think there’s some in the back — I would say, you should really look at yourselves and you should wonder, why is it that you can’t question things? Somebody came to me the other day and they wanted a comment, and they said there’s a MAHA Summit on September 28 and 29, and they said, ‘Oh you’re taking money from a bunch of different companies and we’d like to talk about those companies and doesn’t it feel like you’re being co-opted by these companies.’ I was thinking — that’s a reasonable question — nothing wrong with that question but the much bigger question is, ‘Why aren’t those same so-called investigative journalists looking at every member of Congress, every . . .’

Why aren’t they looking at every member of their own ranks who failed to investigate all the Big Food companies and the Big Pharma companies and the Big Ag companies that are responsible for 1.2 million deaths or more per year? That is the real epidemic in this country.

In what world, in what kind of rational world, would every major newspaper, every news show, cover four people getting measles? Now, people can be harmed by measles . . . that’s not the question. The question is, why are you covering that? And why haven’t you covered more than a million people dying every year from preventable chronic disease? Why do you not care about that?

One possible answer — I don’t want to make any accusations, but one possible answer could be that, and I looked this up this morning on ChatGPT because I had seen higher numbers and I believe they probably are higher, but ChatGPT says at 25% of all of the advertising dollars at major news stations in this country come from Big Pharma and a somewhat smaller number comes from Big Food. So, something like half of the advertising dollars come from the companies that are giving us this outcome of more than a million deaths and they don’t get investigated and, for a generation, neither the right nor the left has had any congressional investigations on them, has really gone after this problem, which is of epic proportions. And then Bobby Kennedy comes along.

I’m going to end with the idea of how dangerous Bobby is. And the truth is that he really is dangerous. A lot of people might have to change the way they act and might have change the products that they sell to every child in America and to every adult in America and start to do a better job like countries all around the world do. And if you look at the fact that even right now, people have a health problem, somebody gets a certain kind of cancer, and the system is just kind of blocked. So they go all around the world to countries that will give them better care, or they need a certain kind of surgery and they go to Berlin, they need stem cell treatments and they got to Mexico or the Caribbean or they go Canada to get cheaper drugs. You think about that and you realize we’ve had a government that hasn’t protected us. We’ve had system that’s at war with us. And our government is supposed to work for us. They’re supposed to have our interests at heart.

I think Bobby Kennedy is the most dangerous individual to this system, who’s come along in a generation. And you’re still, you’re not going to have perfect days from the day that he came into power. But I think that every child in America is going to be healthier for the work that he’s done, for the MAHA wins that are coming up day after day, that are almost never covered by any news station.

You see AOC using MAHA talking points now. That’s a victory. You even see Eli Lilly making comments about how much exercise and eating healthy food is important. And you wonder why that is because they never did that before. So, we’ve been able to win this cultural war. And that I think that’s where the biggest victory comes from.

With the actual laws, there’s a system in place — and I’m going to keep saying it — and this system is meant to maintain itself and the status quo. And it’s meant to reject change. But change is science. We’ve had the most anti-science system in place of any country in the history of mankind. We’ve rejected change and progress more than any other country, more than any other civilization. We’ve just stopped things, and we’ve done that for one reason only: because there’s a revenue stream coming from the way things are. They’re factories built that cost billions of dollars to retool, and these companies don’t want to do that. And they’re not going to do so unless they’re forced to do it. We can’t expect the media to force them to, we can’t expect the government — even this much better, much stronger, much more well-intentioned government — because there are all these roadblocks that are set up in our system.

But the thing is —we can change it, because we’ve seen things now that we can never unsee. There are only so many children who can be poisoned without their parents saying, ‘this is it! I’m not believing anything anymore. I’m doing what I’m told. I’m putting into my body or reading books or doing anything that I’m indoctrinated to do. I’m going to question everything.’’ And so people say, ‘questioning things is dangerous.’ It is.

You know, there’s a great book called Civilization and in that book it says lack of confidence can kill a civilization. The author says we can destroy ourselves by cynicism and disillusionment just as effectively as with bombs. But I would say this: I would say, we trusted them, we believed in them, we thought that it couldn’t be possible. We thought it can’t be a conspiracy. There are too many people who are involved. It’s hundreds and hundreds of companies. It’s thousands of powerful people. Would they all be willing to poison our children? And what we learned is ‘yes.’ So, we don’t trust them anymore. We’re not going to trust them. We’re going to question everything. We’re going to think for ourselves. We’re going to fight for medical freedom because we know you can’t do worse than we’ve done. The things that everybody says are the great dangers of Bobby Kennedy . . . all those things already happened. And Bobby Kennedy is now coming in and trying to change them. I’m really grateful.

When news reports announce measles spreading close to home, it is natural for parents to feel concerned. In these moments, the conversation usually focuses on a single solution: the vaccine.

But parents deserve the full story, including the cause of the dramatic decline in measles deaths, the critical role of nutrition, and whether vaccinated individuals can transmit measles. Looking closely at the evidence helps families move past fear-provoking headlines and make informed health decisions.

What Is Measles?

Measles is an acute respiratory infection caused by a virus, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). It spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

Early symptoms resemble a standard cold or flu:

• Runny nose

• Dry Cough

• Red, watery eyes (conjunctivitis)

• High Fever

Within two to three days, tiny white spots may appear inside the mouth. Around the fourth day, a flat red rash typically emerges on the head and face and spreads downward over the body.

While serious complications like pneumonia or brain inflammation (encephalitis) can occur, the vast majority of healthy, well-nourished children recover within a week to ten days.

What Caused the Drop in Measles Deaths?

During the 1800s, measles was deeply feared. It swept through American cities every few years under crowded, unsanitary conditions, leading to significant mortality among malnourished children. In severe outbreaks among high-risk or institutionalized children, case fatality rates could reach up to 20 percent (20,000 deaths for every 100,000 infected children), primarily caused by secondary bacterial pneumonia and severe diarrhea.

Yet by 1960, official United States vital statistics reveal that measles mortality had already plummeted by 98 percent, dropping to roughly 0.2 deaths per 100,000 people. Among reported cases, the risk of death had fallen to approximately 0.1 percent (1 in 1,000 infected), or roughly 0.01 percent (1 in 10,000) when accounting for estimated total unreported infections.

What drove this massive decline in mortality?

It wasn’t antibiotics.

Penicillin was not widely available until 1944. Yet, by that time, measles mortality had already fallen by nearly 90 percent from its turn-of-the-century peak, according to official United States vital statistics.

It wasn’t the measles vaccine either.

The first measles vaccine was not licensed until 1963, which was after the 98 percent drop in deaths had occurred. The same year, Massachusetts recorded zero measles deaths, and Washington state recorded a rate of just 0.3 per 100,000

In a 1962 paper published in the American Journal of Public Health, Dr. Alexander Langmuir, the CDC’s Chief of Epidemiology, described measles as a “self-limiting infection of short duration, moderate severity, and low fatality.”

Public health researchers widely attributed the pre-vaccine decline to cleaner drinking water, modern sanitation, better housing and hygienic practices, and improved childhood nutrition.

The Role of Nutrition

As early as 1932, Dr. J. B. Ellison reported that well-nourished children rarely died or experienced severe complications from measles. Proper nutrition is vital partly because infection triggers inflammation, which can quickly deplete the body’s nutrient stores and hinder the immune system’s ability to fight the infection.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A (retinol) is essential for maintaining mucous membranes and adequate immune response. Research in Pediatrics reported that measles rapidly lowers blood retinol levels. And lower levels correlate directly with higher fevers, longer hospital stays, and severe complications like pneumonia and death. Underscoring that link, a 2020 article in Vaccines noted that 92 percent of hospitalized measles cases in the U.S. were low in vitamin A.

As far back as the 1930s, administering cod liver oil (rich in vitamin A) cut measles mortality in hospitalized children by roughly 58 percent.

In 1993, a meta-analysis in the Journal of the American Medical Association reported that vitamin A supplementation for hospitalized patients was associated with an approximate 60 percent reduction in death overall and an approximate 90 percent reduction in death among infants.

The researchers concluded, “Vitamin A supplements should be given to all measles patients…whether or not they have symptoms of vitamin A deficiency.”

A separate 1993 meta-analysis in the British Medical Journal reported a 70 percent reduction in mortality following vitamin A supplementation.

Vitamin A is so effective at reducing mortality and complications from measles that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend supplementation for hospitalized children. The World Health Organization recommends vitamin A supplementation for every child with measles, regardless of whether they were deficient beforehand.

Vitamin C and Other Micronutrients

High-dose ascorbic acid (vitamin C) also has a long history of documented clinical use. In 1949, Dr. Fred R. Klenner reported in Southern Medicine and Surgery that therapeutic doses of vitamin C led to rapid symptom resolution.

Vitamin C supports white blood cell function and tissue repair, protecting against secondary pneumonia. Key nutrients like zinc and vitamin D provide essential immune support as well.

Vaccine Gets the Credit

Despite the dramatic pre-vaccine drop in measles mortality and the documented power of nutrition, public perception shifted in the late 1950s as a vaccine was developed.

At that time, measles was not perceived as a serious disease in America. The Surgeon General’s information specialists said measles was “often welcomed as a guarantee of lifetime immunity,” and people viewed it as a “trivial” disease of childhood.

However, as word spread that a vaccine was in development, the media began emphasizing the severity of measles.

The New York Times reported that measles struck an estimated one million Americans annually and rendered victims vulnerable to secondary infections. CBS aired a broadcast titled “The Taming of a Virus” that strategically detailed the mortality of measles in West Africa where it killed 1 in 5 children.

While the virus did infect millions in America, official records show the death rate was already down to 0.2 per 100,000 (0.0002 percent of the population).

Regardless, when the vaccine was licensed in 1963, it was heralded by the news and medical journals as necessary and able to wipe out measles within a couple of years. The Times ran a front-page headline declaring, “2 Measles Vaccines Licensed; U.S. Sees End of Disease in 1965.”

But the real-world rollout has encountered unexpected problems.

Can Vaccinated Individuals Spread Measles?

Public messaging often implies that measles outbreaks are driven exclusively by the unvaccinated. However, medical literature and public health records show that outbreaks regularly occur in highly vaccinated populations:

• Illinois (1984): The CDC reported measles spreading through a school and concluded that “transmission of measles can occur within a school population with a documented immunization level of 100%.”

• Corpus Christi, Texas (1985): An outbreak occurred in a high school where over 99 percent of students were vaccinated and more than 95 percent had laboratory-confirmed immunity, leading researchers in the New England Journal of Medicine to conclude that outbreaks persist in near-universally vaccinated settings.

• Montana (1985): An outbreak of 137 cases erupted despite a 98.7 percent documented vaccination rate.

• Colorado (1988): A college outbreak of 84 measles cases occurred in spite of over 98 percent of students having documented immunity.

• Quebec, Canada (1989): Vaccination coverage in the outbreak area was reported to be 99 percent.

During the 1980s, measles cases in the U.S. rose dramatically, with vaccinated individuals accounting for approximately 30 percent of reported infections, according to a 1994 review in the Archives of Internal Medicine. The review concluded that as more people are vaccinated, “measles becomes a disease of immunized persons.”

Public health officials realized that artificial immunity from a single-dose vaccine faded over time, which led to the introduction of a two-dose schedule in 1989.

Recent studies have analyzed whether two doses prevent transmission. An August 2026 meta-analysis in Expert Review of Vaccines evaluated 890 vaccinated individuals who contracted measles. Researchers reported that 70 of them (7.9 percent) transmitted the virus to others, generating 812 downstream measles cases.

Nearly one-third (31.4 percent) of those who transmitted the virus had received the full two-dose series, leading researchers to conclude that fully vaccinated individuals “can contribute to outbreaks.”

Furthermore, vaccinated people who spread the disease rarely presented with textbook symptoms. Only 36.8 percent met the clinical case definition, and some never developed a rash. Because these cases often go undiagnosed, the researchers stated actual transmission among vaccinated individuals may be higher than currently documented.

Considerations of the Live Attenuated Measles Vaccine

The measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine uses a live, attenuated (weakened) virus designed to replicate inside the recipient’s body to trigger an immune response. Because the virus is live, it carries biological considerations:

Vaccine-induced Measles

Medical authorities acknowledge that the vaccine virus can cause a modified form of measles. While widely considered non-transmissible, institutions like the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia note that transmission may be possible. In the medical literature, documented reactions to vaccine-strain measles range from mild fever to severe neurological compromise.

A 2022 case report documented vaccine-associated encephalitis (brain inflammation) in an immunocompromised child who was “previously healthy” at her one-year well-child visit before she received the first dose of the MMR vaccine.

In a landmark 1999 case report in Clinical Infectious Diseases, researchers performed genetic sequencing on brain tissue from a child who developed fatal measles inclusion-body encephalitis after vaccination. The viral sequences in the brain were confirmed to be identical to the vaccine strain.

Furthermore, the Institute of Medicine (National Academy of Medicine) concluded that the evidence convincingly supports a causal relationship between the MMR vaccine and encephalitis in individuals with underlying immune vulnerabilities.

Viral-Strain Infection & Possible Connection to Chronic Disease

Parents are routinely told that attenuated viruses clear the body within days or weeks. However, studies show the vaccine-strain virus can shed in urine for weeks after injection.

Additionally, vaccine-strain RNA has been detected in the white blood cells of some individuals with ulcerative colitis and some children with autism, according to a 2000 article in Digestive Diseases and Sciences.

These findings raise important questions about whether persistent viral fragments can contribute to lingering inflammation and subsequent chronic illness.

Long-Term Health Benefits of Natural Measles

Recovering from wild measles provides durable, lifelong protection that does not require booster doses. Epidemiological studies have also observed several long-term health benefits associated with natural childhood recovery from measles:

• Lower rates of allergic conditions

• Reduction in adult risk for Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas

The conference, which will be held at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, comes at a pivotal time, with ongoing national discussions around medical freedom, censorship, government accountability, and children’s health.

Mary Holland, CEO of CHD, told The MAHA Report that “the tide has finally started to turn on vaccine crimes with real investigations, criminal referrals, indictments and prosecutions.”

Dr. Poul Thorsen, CDC fraudster and extradited fugitive, is expected to plead guilty on September 1 to financial crimes; his greater crimes were likely falsifying data about vaccines and autism in Denmark years ago. Dr. Vincent Munster, prominent gain-of-function scientist, has been indicted for smuggling infectious agents into the US.”

She added, “Covid, autism, gain-of -function – these long-running corrupt narratives are beginning to fail, with standard-bearers being hauled into court and prison. And this is just the beginning. At the conference in DC, you can hear from some of the leading lights in Congress, in media, in activism around health freedom.”

On Sen. Johnson receiving the 2026 Defender Award, Holland said, “Senator Johnson exemplifies the same spirit of courage, conviction, and dedication to the principles of transparency and accountability that define this award.”

Johnson, who was elected to his third term in the U.S. Senate in 2022 after operating a manufacturing business for years in Oshkosh, is renowned for his advocacy for informed consent, vaccine efficacy and safety, and other medical freedom issues.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Johnson stepped forward as one of the most vocal Senate critics of lockdowns, mask mandates, and vaccine mandates and passports. These policies violated Americans’ civil liberties, ignored natural immunity, and did not address individual risk-benefit calculations, he argued.

Johnson is also a champion of Kennedy’s Make America Healthy Again platform to address chronic disease, nutrition, food manufacturing and the corporate capture of government agencies.

He currently serves as chair of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations and is also a member of the Budget, Finance and Aging committees.

This is the revelation in one of the latest emails released over the weekend by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis), whose staff has been poring through emails and text messages between Anthony Fauci, former head of the NIAID, and the previous heads of the other sub-agencies under the Department of Health and Human Services.

The May 27, 2021 email comes from then acting commissioner of the FDA, Janet Woodcock. It’s addressed to Fauci and Francis Collins, the director of the NIH.

The subject of the email is: “Vaccine adverse events.”

“I have been contacted by a number of people who have experienced adverse events post COVID-19 vaccination (from all three of the current vaccines),” Woodcock writes in the opening sentence. “Many are healthcare professionals, some of whom I know.”

She goes on to say that the symptoms these people describe “do not fit together into a distinctive syndrome and most are not easily quantifiable or evaluated with standard laboratory testing.”

She writes of the frustration of the people who had contacted her, saying that even though many are health care professionals, they were not taken seriously by their own doctors.

“But the peoples’ main complaint is that no one takes them seriously,” writes Woodcock. “no one knows how to treat them, and there is no effort to study this.”

Strangely, she adds that VAERS, the main government-managed system for the reporting of vaccine side effects, would not be able to detect the kinds of issues that people have described to her.

“These problems are not the sort that a system like VAERS would be able to detect, or even a more sophisticated population-based active followup such as CDC has, or a medical record based system such as BEST,” she writes.

She concluded the email by stating what she thought should be done.

“I think it would be worthwhile to do a study and evaluate a cohort of individuals,” she tells Fauci and Collins. “But of course $$ need to be made available and you would need an investigator who is interested in ‘medical mysteries.’”

She ends the email, not with an appeal to her colleagues to act quickly to notify the public that Covid vaccines could cause serious health issues and for the need to save people from serious injury, but by alluding to the damage that might be done to her reputation and the reputations of Fauci and Collins.

“I doubt industry would support, for obvious reasons,” she wrote about doing a study. “But my experience is that if you let a problem fester, then it will come back to bite you later and you are not prepared.”

She did not want any of them to get “bitten” later on.

Fauci replied with one word: “Thanks.” He then sends a message to Collins saying they can not ignore what she was saying, and that they should bring in Rochelle, referring to Rochelle Walensky, then head of the CDC.

But, publicly, Fauci and Collins continued to assure the American public that the vaccines were safe and effective.

The email raises more questions – questions that may be pursued by Sen. Johnson, who said at a committee meeting earlier this month that he will continue pursuing the truth about Covid and the Covid vaccines.

One of those questions may be why the acting head of the FDA thought that side effects people were describing weren’t showing up in VAERS.

Dr. Matt Bain, a neurologist in Indianapolis who testified before an Indiana legislative committee in early 2022 about all of the neurological injuries he was seeing in his practice, told The MAHA Report this week that by June of 2021, there were 139 cases of acute transverse myelitis in VAERS, more than the total number reported to VAERS over 32 years for all other vaccines combined.

Bain also says by that summer, VAERS was also showing that the Covid vaccine was causing many cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome. The flu vaccine is known to cause one case of Guillain-Barré for every million shots given.

“We were seeing 4-5 times that with the mRNA vaccines in particular,” Bain said.

He balked when read the text of Woodcock’s email, about VAERS not detecting symptoms that people were describing.

“That’s a false statement,” he said. “VAERS was designed to detect just those kinds of symptoms.”

Neurological problems were some of the earliest vaccine injuries identified, along with cardiac issues and blood clots. Healthcare professionals were some of the first to be vaccinated starting in December of 2020, when the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were rolled out. Many health care providers, says Bain, were diagnosed with small-fiber neuropathy and experienced loss of sensation and sometimes stabbing pains in their limbs.

“A lot of my nurses were not able to work, because they were not able to feel the pulse to start an IV,” he says.

These reports from healthcare providers, many of which were captured in VAERS, were an early indication that the Covid vaccines were causing serious harm.

But Woodcock, Fauci and Collins never alerted the public.

Woodcock is a physician who spent most of her career at the FDA and served as acting FDA commissioner from January 20, 2021 until February 17, 2022.

On July 10, 2021, she testified before the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions that in issuing Emergency Use Authorization for the three Covid-19 vaccines, they had “relied upon the Agency’s rigorous standards for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing quality.”

In her testimony, she did refer to some risk of myocarditis and pericarditis from the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, but said the risk appeared to be “very low.” She also mentioned a risk of Guillain-Barré syndrome following the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, but again downplayed it, saying: “The chance of this occurring following vaccination appears to be very low.”

As of June 26, 2026, there were 1,677,227 reports in VAERS related to side effects from the Covid vaccines. This includes 222,828 hospitalizations, 74,835 cases of permanent disability following Covid vaccination, 22,549 heart attacks, 5,222 miscarriages and 39,182 deaths.

Instead of the current 72 doses of 17 different vaccines, the president’s order will have the CDC recommending vaccines for children for 11 different diseases.

The president’s order also directs that shots be spread across more visits and removes vaccines that children do not need from universal recommendations.

“Effective immediately, my administration is recognizing gold standard childhood vaccine recommendations for only 11 core vaccinations against the most serious and dangerous diseases,” President Trump said at a White House press conference announcing the change. “We want the MMR in three separate vaccinations given at separate times.”

Trump said he was also ordering that vaccines be spread out, with just one vaccine to be given at each doctor’s appointment, rather than four, five or more vaccines given during a single visit.

“At one year, you should have five separate visits for vaccines rather than getting them all in the same day,” said Trump.

The president added, “Vaccinations for hepatitis B, Covid-19, and influenza, among others, are no longer recommended for all children.”

The executive order came on the same day as texts released by Senator Ron Johnson revealed more troubling news about Dr. Anthony Fauci, who was running the federal response to the Covid pandemic at that time.

According to the texts, Fauci knew that the Covid vaccine administered to pregnant women would lead to a high rate of miscarriages. Fauci texted his concerns in a group chat with former CDC Director Rachelle Walensky and former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy.

Neither Fauci, Walensky, or Murthy informed the public and continued the policy calling for pregnant women to receive the Covid vaccine.

Data eventually emerged that pregnant women who received Covid vaccines indeed did suffer an alarming rate of miscarriage.

Senator Johnson promised to reveal more information from Fauci’s texts in the coming days.

The executive order marks a turning point in medical decision making, taking absolute authority away from entrenched vaccinology ‘experts.’ Going forward, parents will have more control of their children’s vaccinations.

States which have removed religious exemptions and made medical exemptions to vaccination will soon face challenges from the U.S. Department of Justice.

NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya noted that European countries have higher vaccination rates without resorting to mandates. He views the executive order as a way to re-establish trust in public health recommendations after the failures of the Covid pandemic response

Monday’s White House press conference also focused on autism. President Trump said the increase in autism may be linked to vaccine injuries, and HHS Secretary Kennedy added environmental causes as a key factor. Refuting the oft cited belief from mainstream medicine that autism is solely caused by genes, Kennedy said, “There cannot be an epidemic caused by genes. There has to be an environmental cause.”

Kennedy promised that the health agencies will begin releasing new autism research over the next ninety days.

The legacy media and vaccinology establishment recoils at the notion of a link between vaccine injury and autism. However, a social-legal research paper in 2011, “Unanswered Questions from the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program: A Review of Compensated Cases of Vaccine-Induced Brain Injury,” reveals that the U.S. government has compensated vaccine injuries that resulted in autism.*

While you’ll never read this in the legacy media, there is enough research linking vaccine injury and autism, and other health problems, to fill a book. One such book is Vax-Unvax: Let the Science Speak, by Dr. Brian Hooker and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Still, following the president’s EO, the pharma-funded American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) went on the offensive, issuing a statement from its president, Andrew D. Racine. “Today’s executive order on vaccines is not only disheartening but dangerous,” it read in part.

And on CNN, which openly states that many of its programs are “brought to you by Pfizer,” Jake Tapper told his viewers that the medical and scientific communities are “horrified and pushing back.”

Tapper presented two mainstream medical ‘vaccine experts’ – Dr. Paul Offit and Dr. Richard Besser – who criticized the president’s order as “unscientific.”

No one supporting the president’s order appeared on the broadcast.

Offit has made millions on developing a Rotavirus vaccine and was awarded the Merck chair, according to Sharyl Attkisson. Besser is a former acting CDC Director who now runs the Robert Woods Foundation, started by the Pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson. Tapper did not disclose these ties to Big Pharma.

Offit and Besser criticized the decision to break up the MMR vaccine into separate shots, despite ample U.S. government data from the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program demonstrating that the separate measles, mumps and rubella vaccines produce far fewer injuries and deaths than a single MMR vaccine.

Tony Lyons, President of MAHA Action, expressed the opposite point of view to that of legacy media pundits: “Monday, by Executive Order, President Trump and HHS Secretary RFK Jr. stood up for parents, children, and informed consent. America’s kids will no longer face an endless stream of vaccines at every pediatric visit.”

Added Lyons, “Our schedule will now align with peer nations that have better health outcomes and less chronic disease. The measles vaccine will soon be offered in separate components. On Monday, this administration took a major step toward making America’s children healthy again.”

A week after he returned to office, on January 27, 2025, President Donald Trump issued an executive order calling the military’s Covid vaccine mandate “an unfair, overbroad, and completely unnecessary burden on our service members,” and directing the Department of Defense to reinstate members of the military who were unfairly discharged. He also granted them back pay and benefits.

But in response to questions from The MAHA Report, a Department of War official said that only about 230 service members have been reinstated since the president’s order was issued and that the military is working with more than 600 others who are interested in reinstatement.

The statement begins:

“The Department of War and the Military Service Departments continue to expedite and prioritize the processing of reinstatement requests from individuals involuntarily discharged solely because of their COVID-19 vaccination status. As of June 2026, the Department has welcomed back more than 230 warfighters, and the Military Departments continue to actively work with more than 600 additional Service members interested in returning.”

The statement continues:

“Under updated guidance issued on July 21, 2025, the Military Departments may offer former Service members the opportunity to fulfill their service obligation entirely in active reserve status, with eligibility for back pay and benefits the Military Department Review Boards continue to evaluate and adjudicate reinstatement cases as quickly as possible and on their individual merits, as documented.”

And yet a majority of troops who were discharged for refusing the Covid vaccine are still in limbo.

The Department of War, as it’s now being called, declined to comment on the three class action lawsuits that were initiated by attorney Dale Saran on behalf of 1,324 soldiers, sailors, airmen and guardsmen seeking back pay, saying as a matter of policy they don’t comment on ongoing litigation.

Saran is a retired major in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was a judge advocate for more than 20 years – essentially a defense attorney inside the Corps. In 2023, he and three other attorneys founded a firm called Military Back Pay and filed three class action suits in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims seeking back pay and other compensation for the plaintiffs, who’d been discharged or pushed out of the military for their refusal to get the Covid vaccine. One of the suits is for Army/Navy/Air Force/Marines and Space Force; another is for the National Guard; and a third is for the Coast Guard.

“We’re three years in and no one’s gotten relief yet. No one’s gotten paid. No one’s apologized,” Saran told The MAHA Report last week.

Saran said he’s made many overtures to the attorneys at the Department of Justice, who are representing the U.S. government, sending letters and proposals for settling the cases.

“They didn’t respond at all, and then it was ‘not interested,’” he said. “Nobody cares. They hate us because we’re trying to make them pay full freight for what was done.”

But it’s possible there’s a disconnect, or that a settlement is not far off.

This week, on July 15, five days after The MAHA Report’s initial queries about the issue of back pay, the Department of War sent a new statement with the surprising news that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is directing an outside organization to do a thorough review of the Department of War’s actions related to the Covid vaccine – an After-Action Review – to go over “lessons learned to improve future policy.”

In addition, the Department of War will convene an internal panel under the Under Secretary of War for Personnel and Readiness General Anthony J. Tata, made up of military and civilian employees, to review the Covid-19 vaccine mandate. The objective of the panel, the statement says, is to “review the official decisions, coordination, planning and execution of the Covid-19 vaccine mandate from January 2020 through January 2023.”

Gen. Tata is quoted in the statement: “The Department is fully committed to restoring honor and rebuilding trust with the warfighters impacted by the Covid-19 vaccine mandate. Under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Hegseth, we continue to prioritize reinstatement, deliver remedies, and establish permanent safeguards against future mandates.”

Tata added that, “the actions detailed in these memorandums reflect our ongoing dedication to transparency and accountability. By having members of the affected community lead the internal after-action review and further analyze how the COVID-19 vaccine mandate influenced decision-making and readiness—and making the findings public—we will ensure that the Department learns from the past and does not repeat these mistakes in the future.”

In a memo that accompanied the statement, dated July 14, Secretary Hegseth ordered the declassification of the After-Action Review, saying it will be approved for release to the public by February of 2027.

The Covid Vaccine Mandate

The Department of Defense imposed a vaccine mandate on all military and civilian employees on August 24, 2021, requiring them to get the Covid vaccine. The service branches then issued their own mandates, and the pressure was on.

“In the beginning, none of us needed it, nobody wanted it,” says Derrick Wynne, who joined the Army in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic, at the age of 29, and was an infantryman stationed at Fort Hood, in Texas, when the vaccine was first made available.

Soldiers were pressured to get it, and they began to comply. “They wore people down,” Wynne remembers.

Then the mandate came and things changed.

The Department of Defense, Wynne says, created a dog-eat-dog atmosphere and it was as if they were “at war with Covid.”

“They created this crab-in-a-bucket environment. The men you expected to protect you in battle were just folding,” says Wynne.

He said the superior officers “hammered all the people below them” to get the vaccine.

But Wynne had decided he wasn’t going to get it and stood his ground.

Every day, he says, he would get pulled aside by his team leader, his squad leader, his platoon leader and his company commander, and asked why he hadn’t yet gotten the vaccine. Every conversation was documented in memos. He was finally recommended for discharge and says Maj. Gen. John Richardson wanted to give him a dishonorable discharge but couldn’t because, by that time, Congress had prohibited the Department of Defense from giving dishonorable discharges over vaccine refusal.

Wynne had never applied for a religious exemption, saying this would have been tantamount to agreeing that the Army’s vaccine mandate was lawful, when he said he was sure it wasn’t. Why? Because, he said, the vaccine troops were being mandated to take was an experimental vaccine, and Army regulations prohibit troops from being mandated to take a vaccine that doesn’t have full FDA approval.

After his general discharge – not dishonorable but not honorable – Wynne was without a home for a year, unable to get a job or enroll in school and not eligible even for government benefits. He had to move in with his girlfriend’s parents, which he says was a “huge hit” to his pride and made him feel “like a 30-year-old bum.”

He called his state representative, and his Congressman, Rep. Brian Babin, and even approached Texas Gov. Greg Abbott at an event, asking for help. But no one would meet with him. He said Abbott promised someone would get in touch with him, but no one ever did.

Wynne is one of the named plaintiffs in Bassen v. United States of America, one of the three class action suits. He appears in the new film Duty to Disobey, produced by Children’s Health Defense.

In December of 2022, Congress included a provision in the National Defense Authorization Act requiring the Department of Defense to rescind the Covid-19 vaccine mandate for troops. On January 10, 2023, then Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin followed through and officially rescinded the mandate.

Meanwhile, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin) is demanding answers from Secretary Austin about vaccine injuries. A whistleblower had come forward with the astonishing information that the Defense Medical Epidemiology Database (DMED) showed big increases in serious health issues among members of the military after the vaccine mandate went into effect. Among them — a 130% increase in myocarditis; a 41% increase in pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung); a 38% increase in ovarian dysfunction; 38% increase in heart issues; and a 56% increase in cancer of the esophagus.

In the middle of the military’s worst recruiting crisis since Vietnam, and with thousands of troops leaving the service every month, some other members of the military were suffering side effects from the vaccine.

Still No Back Pay

Three and a half years after the vaccine mandate on the military was lifted, there’s been no real acknowledgement of the vaccine-injured, and still no back pay for thousands of service members forced out for refusing orders to get the vaccine – an order they say was illegal from the start.

Saran says the Air Force Board for Correction of Military Records and the Board for Correction of Naval Records, and also the Coast Guard counsel, have taken the position that “if you don’t reinstate, you get nothing.”

But it’s evident that the great majority of the service members who were discharged or left the military over the vaccine mandate aren’t coming back.

Wynne is among them, telling The MAHA Report: “That would be like a battered wife going back to her drunk husband before he even sobers up and apologizes.”

Kennedy posted on X , reminding the public that he had promised four things: to end covid vaccine mandates; to keep vaccines available to people who want them, especially the vulnerable; to demand placebo-controlled trials from companies; and to end the emergency.

“In a series of FDA actions today we accomplished all four goals,” Kennedy wrote. “The emergency use authorizations for Covid vaccines, once used to justify broad mandates on the general public during the Biden administration, are now rescinded.”

In a press release posted on the HHS website, Kennedy further stated, “Americans deserve a regulatory system that is transparent, accountable, and rooted in the rule of law. By ending these COVID-19 emergency use authorization declarations, we’re reinforcing public confidence that emergency authorities are temporary and targeted.”

Kennedy noted that the FDA is promulgating marketing authorization for high-risk groups: Moderna (6+ months), Pfizer (5+), and Novavax (12+).

“These vaccines are available for all patients who choose them after consulting with their doctors,” Kennedy wrote on X. “The American people demanded science, safety, and common sense. This framework delivers all three.”

EUAs are granted by the FDA to medical products when no approved, alternative product is available. The Covid vaccines developed by Pfizer and Moderna were both made available through EUAs prior to receiving full FDA approval in 2021 and 2022.

The standards for EUAs and full FDA approval are different. In order for a product to receive an EUA, it must be determined that its potential benefits outweigh its potential risks. This is different from the standard that medical products must achieve for full FDA approval, which requires that manufacturers prove that those products are safe and effective.

In May, the FDA granted full approval to Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine for at-risk children, making it the first Covid vaccine, not through an EUA, available for children between 6 months and 11 years old.

Covid vaccines had been available to all children. In many states, these vaccines were mandatory for children. However, Kennedy announced earlier this year that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) no longer recommended the vaccine to healthy children and pregnant women.

Kennedy’s latest move will likely raise the ire of major medical organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), which has been instructing pediatricians to ignore federal recommendations and follow AAP’s guidance: that all children receive Covid vaccines – not only those at risk.

Last August, Kennedy criticized the AAP for being captured by corporate interests, noting that four companies “make virtually every vaccine on the CDC recommended childhood schedule.”

As an increasing percentage of the American public grows suspicious of the vaccine burden placed on America’s youth, the AAP appears woefully out of step.

And while many in the medical establishment oppose the latest changes that Kennedy has implemented, he has not reduced the availability of Covid vaccines for those who want them.

“Accountability starts with acknowledging there’s a problem,” says Stephanie Weidle, the executive director of Feds for Freedom, which formed hastily in 2021 after the Biden administration announced the vaccine mandate on the entire federal workforce.

On Wednesday, at a conference at the Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, D.C. called “National Security Beyond the Headlines,” the organization will push for that accountability, framing the issue of health freedom in the broader context of national security as America celebrates 250 years of independence.

The lineup of speakers includes Joe Kent, the former head of the National Counterterrorism Center who resigned over the Iran War; Dr. Robert Malone, the co-inventor of the mRNA vaccine technology; Steve Baker, an investigative journalist who was arrested by the FBI; Dr. Meryl Nass, an expert on the broad spectrum of injuries that can be caused by vaccines; Ivan Raiklin, a constitutional attorney and former Green Beret; Emily Kopp, a journalist who has investigated the origins of the Covid virus; Chris Martenson, founder of Peak Prosperity; and Jeffrey Tucker, founder of the Brownstone Institute.

Conference organizers will be asking the following questions throughout the day: Is glyphosate the answer to national security, or is it the actual risk? Are vaccines protecting our soldiers and citizens or harming them? Does heightened government surveillance protect Americans or does it pose the ultimate risk? Is the lack of accountability in the U.S. government in fact the greatest threat to America itself?

At the end of the day on Wednesday, the organizers will identify the most promising solutions and present them to senior U.S. leaders.

More than a million Americans died from Covid, according to the official numbers – the highest of any country in the world – though many have speculated that half or more of these are likely not Covid deaths per se, but deaths caused by hospital protocols administered by doctors and nurses. No one has been held accountable.

Thousands of federal employees were injured by the Covid vaccine, and their injuries in most cases have been denied by doctors and the federal government. Because of the PREP act, they cannot sue. There is no one to hold accountable.

Feds for Freedom came together in the fall of 2021, in the weeks after President Joe Biden announced that all federal employees would be mandated to get the Covid vaccine. It was the first time a vaccine had ever been mandated for the entire federal workforce.

Marcus Thornton was a Foreign Service Officer with the State Department and was in Russian-language training when the mandate came down. He and other federal employees quickly organized. One of them was Jim Erdman, a CIA officer. Together, they co-founded Feds for Freedom.

“We came to the realization that no one was going to save us,” Thornton told The MAHA Report.

Within a few weeks, they had 3,000 members. They got to work finding a lawyer who could file an injunction to stop the vaccine mandate.

“We called probably 50 or 60 law firms before we finally found one that would represent us. No one wanted to take the case,” said Thornton.

They also hired a PR firm to get their case in the news. It didn’t do much good. Even Fox News wasn’t interested in the story.

Meanwhile in Washington, you couldn’t go to a restaurant to eat a meal without showing proof of vaccination, and thousands of employees of federal agencies allowed an injection into their bodies that they did not want.

“What was shocking to me was how willing people were to do that in violation of their conscience,” says Thornton.

In January of 2022, an injunction against mandates was approved by a federal judge. But a lot of the damage was done, and federal employees who’d objected and spoken out were starting to lose their security clearances, effectively ending their careers.

In 2023, while serving in the U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, Thornton went to his office one day to find that his badge didn’t work. He couldn’t get in the door. He contacted a supervisor who told him the ambassador, Lesslie Viguerie, wanted to speak with him.

“I met with the ambassador and he informed me that I was being relieved from my post for loss of confidence,” says Thornton. He and his family had to pack up and go back to D.C. He managed to hang on as Foreign Service Officer, and get another post in the State Department. But no one who was involved in punishing him for speaking out has ever faced any accountability. Lesslie Virguerie, to this day, remains the U.S. ambassador to Kyrgyzstan. There’s been no apology, no retraction of the negative notes in his personnel file. Nothing.

But Thornton, Erdman and the other federal employees aren’t looking for retribution. They want things to change.

“It did serious damage to our national security,” says Thornton. It’s for this reason, he says, that he wants accountability.

Across the government, he said, people need to face consequences as individuals for having violated the rights of others, or it could all happen again.

“The accountability needs to be on par with what you would face in the private sector if you engaged in egregious, unethical behavior,” he says.

The now censored article found that 2,605 infant deaths (under age one) were reported to VAERS within 60 days of vaccination: 58% of cases were reported within 24 hours of vaccination while a supermajority (over 78%) of cases were reported within a week of vaccination. The uncensored article can still be read at the National Library of Medicine.

Writing on X, Secretary Kennedy explained his rationale for writing the letter.

“I sent this letter to the Editor-in-Chief of Toxicology Reports demanding a full explanation for the removal of a published article examining vaccines and sudden infant death. Americans have a right to know why scientific papers are removed, who made those decisions, what evidence supported them, and whether the same standards are applied consistently.”

In the letter, addressed to Lawrence H. Lash, the editor-in-chief of the journal and a professor of pharmacology at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Kennedy writes, “We will restore trust in public health by insisting on transparency, accountability, and open scientific inquiry—not by asking the public to accept decisions behind closed doors.”

HHS Secretary Kennedy demanded the following of Lash:

1. How the removal decision was reached;

2. If, and which, experts were consulted in the investigation;

3. Clarification of treatment of corroborating literature cited by Miller;

4. Criteria for “potential implications for medical practice” as a reason for retraction.

In his article, Miller states that otherwise unexplained infant deaths after vaccination are often labeled as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), suffocation, or unknown causes. He argues that such sloppy labeling helps to conceal links between vaccines and infant deaths.

The peer reviewed article was apparently reviewed and retracted in May because nearly six years after its initial publication Toxicology Reports found the VAERS data was not reliable.

In an ironic twist, Secretary Kennedy is currently working to restructure VAERS in order to collect larger and therefore more accurate data samples. Many of the same forces that have previously censored or outright dismissed scientific research on vaccine safety have also resisted Kennedy’s attempts to improve VAERS.

But until such reforms happen, VAERS remains the largest repository of information related to vaccine injuries and deaths.

In his letter, Kennedy made it clear that the explanation provided by the medical journal was insufficient.

“The notice of removal you [Lash] issued had only two sentences explaining the retraction,” Kennedy wrote. “Given the high levels of public interest in vaccine safety and a history of both overt and obscure pressure against the study of some of these topics, such a brief notice of removal is woefully insufficient.”

Kennedy has repeatedly called out corruption and Big Pharma’s influence on what is published in medical journals. In 2025, he noted that in June of 2021, The Lancet published a letter, authored by Peter Daszak and his associates, titled, “Statement in support of the scientists, public health professionals, and medical professionals of China combatting COVID-19.”

In his letter, Kennedy called on the scientific community to resist criticisms of the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the theory that the pandemic originated there. Daszak, it was later revealed, funded the lab in Wuhan through his organization, EcoHealth Alliance.

After Kennedy posted his letter on Monday, researcher Nicholas Hulscher responded that his recent study on the link between the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine (MMR) and infant deaths corroborated the findings of the Toxicology Reports article. It, too, Hulscher wrote, was recently removed from a publication — in this case, ResearchGate, an online platform that scientists use to share research with one another.

“It’s time to take more direct action against the Journal Cartel,” Hulscher wrote in his response to Kennedy.

The topic of a potential link between vaccines and the sudden death of infants in the United States is particularly poignant given the alarming number of babies that die unexpectedly every year, leaving families devastated.

CDC data shows 3,700 sudden, unexpected deaths of infants in the U.S. in 2022, the most recent year for which data is available. Of these, 1,529 were classified as SIDS deaths while 1,131 were said to be from unknown causes and another 1,040 from accidental suffocation or strangulation in a bed.

He and two other top doctors, including the head of the cancer center at Brown University and a top British cardiologist, all warned senators at the hearing that the mRNA Covid vaccines are likely causing cancer, and that millions of Americans may be at risk.

For years, a handful of doctors including pathologist Ryan Cole had warned of an increase in cancers following Covid vaccination, and said that these cancers were more aggressive, referring to them as “turbo cancers.” But they were ignored by the legacy media, called conspiracy theorists, and faced disciplinary action from medical boards. Now, it appears that they were right all along.

On June 3, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) chaired the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, hearing testimony from, among others, Angus Dalgleish, professor emeritus of oncology at City St. George’s at the University of London. Dalgleish is known as one of the top cancer doctors in the world, and is credited with pioneering immunotherapy to treat cancer.

He told the committee that in early 2022 he saw six of his patients relapse with melanoma after having been cancer-free for between three and 18 years.

“Being investigative, I asked, you know, what was the thing that was common. And the thing that was common is they’d all received a booster vaccine from their general practitioners,” Dalgleish said in his testimony.

Dr. Dalgleish said he suspected that the T-Cell response, which had been keeping his patients’ cancer at bay, was thrown off by the mRNA vaccine and that this was later confirmed by a paper published in a medical journal entitled, “The Evidence of Exhausted Lymphocytes After the Third Anti-SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine Dose in Cancer Patients.”

“I mean, this was absolutely staggering, that they showed across hundreds of patients, that you get this T-Cell suppression,” he said.

Soon after, Dalgleish recounted, there were many reports of IGG immunoglobulin switching in patients who’d gotten a Covid vaccine booster, in which the immune system seemed to be converted from a system that fights invaders like cancer cells to one that tolerates them. Now, he said, the medical literature shows that there are at least a dozen “mechanisms” where messenger RNA can insert into the DNA and suppress the body’s natural defenses against cancer.

“So as an oncologist who is starting to see that, it’s not only my patients now, it’s people I know really well who are going down with cancer,” he said, “and they’re going down more aggressively, and the treatment is not working nearly as well.”

Dalgleish said he and other doctors and researchers have learned enough to know what must be done regarding mRNA technology.

“Myself and others feel that there is no way you can control this technology, and its use for future vaccines should be banned and the Covid ones stopped now,” he said.

An American doctor named Wafik El-Deiry, the director of the Legorreta Cancer Center at Brown University, amplified these concerns in his testimony to the committee, saying that in 2024, he published evidence that the spike protein associated with both Covid infection and the Covid vaccines could hurt the ability of P-53, a protein in the human body, to activate genes involved in suppressing cancer.

“Based on these findings we emphasized that effective vaccines against viruses such as Covid should strengthen immunity against infection without interfering with the body’s natural defenses against cancer,” he said. “These concerns were raised through normal scientific channels, yet the response was not open scientific engagement but escalating attacks. Instead of contributing to scientific dialogue, the findings triggered attacks on both the research and the researchers involved.”

Those attacks were primarily on a platform called PubPeer, which had been created in 2012 to identify fraud and scientific misconduct but which had morphed into a site that allowed anonymous commenters to attack any scientist challenging the prevailing narrative – attacks that were then amplified on social media.

Despite such attacks, El-Deiry said he agreed to serve on an HHS Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices beginning last summer, and joined the working group on Covid vaccination.

“I therefore looked into everything we know about cancer and Covid infection and Covid vaccination and by the fall, found nearly 70 papers ascribing more than 300 reported cancer cases from 27 countries following one or more Covid mRNA vaccine injections,” he said. “The reported cancers occurred near injection sites, like sarcomas or lymphomas, right at the injection site, within the head and neck region, within an L square, including…brain tumors and other tumors, and in some reported cases, spike protein was identified within tumor tissue.”

After the findings of his review of the scientific literature were published in January of 2026, a former Japanese minister contacted him, saying he had a large B-cell lymphoma that had spread into his tonsil and that a biopsy had found the spike protein in it.

“There should be no spike (protein) in tumors,” said El-Deiry.

Also testifying at the hearing was Aseem Malhotra, a well-known British cardiologist.

Malhotra told Johnson’s subcommittee that after getting two doses of the Pfizer vaccine himself, and initially advocating for mass vaccination, including during an appearance on the popular television show Good Morning Britain, he reversed course. After the sudden death of his previously healthy 73-year-old father and after being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, both of which he attributes to the vaccine, he could no longer recommend it.

In a paper published in 2022 in the Journal of Insulin Resistance, he called for a moratorium on Covid vaccines, calling them “unsafe and defective products.”

“The most damning evidence was a re-analysis of Pfizer and Moderna’s original trials,” he said in his testimony. “It determined the frequency of serious harm from the product was 2-4 times more likely than being hospitalized with severe Covid. In my view, if the system had been more transparent, this prophylactic gene therapy would likely not have been injected into a single human being in the first place.”

Malhotra also recounted what happened when he spoke at Britain’s Reform Party conference, quoting Dr. Dalgleish who thought the Covid mRNA vaccines were likely responsible for the cancers of members of the British Royal Family. (Both Kate Middleton, now Princess Katherine, and King Charles were diagnosed with cancer just weeks apart from one another in 2024; both spent several months in the hospital.) Malhotra told senators that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer railed against him in a speech before Parliament, saying he’d said that all vaccines cause cancer and that “dangerous conspiracies cost lives.”

Malhotra ended his testimony with a warning that the cancer rate, which has increased among Americans under 50, will likely continue to rise.

“Looking at the totality of up-to-date evidence and what you’ve heard from eminent witnesses today, in my view, millions of Americans and millions more across the world may be in clear and present danger of suffering premature cardiovascular disease and cancer,” he told the committee. “Without allowing all scientists to debate this openly without fear of censure, we will not be able to identify who is most at risk and how these risks can be mitigated.”

The full hearing, entitled “Plausible Mechanisms of Covid-19 Injections Causing Cancer and Attacks on Scientific Publications and Research,” is available on the website of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.

In Master Manipulator, published by Skyhorse in 2016 with a foreword by Sharyl Attkisson and an introduction by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Grundvig argues that Thorsen’s activities exposed deep problems at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). He writes of studies poorly managed and research ethics severely compromised, especially investigations of the connection between vaccines and autism.

Grundvig traces Thorsen’s rise from relative obscurity to prominence through his access to Denmark’s extensive national health registries – comprehensive databases covering virtually all citizens’ medical histories. Denmark has one of the oldest, most comprehensive, health registries. As a researcher with Danish citizenship, Thorsen had access to the Danish health data that American scientists are not permitted to access.

Why would Danish health registry data be more useful for someone trying to disconnect vaccination as a cause for autism? Because Denmark mandates fewer vaccines and has a lower incidence of autism than the U.S.

Denmark’s autism rates are estimated to be between .26% to 1.47%. According to the CDC, autism rates in the United States are 3.2%.

Twenty years ago, CDC officials were well aware of the trends in U.S. autism data. They understood that using data from Denmark was likely to give them the results that favored their position that vaccines do not cause autism.

On the other hand, CDC officials were fearful of what American health data would reveal.,Thorsen understood the CDC’s fears and leveraged his access to Danish health data for financial gain and increased professional prestige.

And besides, no American researcher would ever be allowed to access the raw data that Thorsen, as a Dane, could access. By creating research based on data no one could independently verify, Thorsen became the man who saved the vaccine industry with research that exonerated vaccines from causing autism.

As Grundvig reveals in his book, Thorsen used Danish data – even though the countries have very different vaccination rates – to claim that there was no causal link between children taking vaccines and their developing autism. He expected Big Pharma, via the CDC, to contract him and to pay him well. They did both.

Thorsen established the North Atlantic Neuro-Epidemiology Alliance (NANEA). The research papers produced by NANEA were enormously valuable to the CDC and Big Pharma in the late 2000’s.

Why? Because over 5,000 families filed cases against Health and Human Services alleging vaccine injuries resulting in autism. They did so in the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, commonly referred to as the ‘Vaccine Court.’ As a result, the U.S. government and Big Pharma faced billions of dollars in compensation payments in the Omnibus Autism Proceedings (OAP) in the ‘Vaccine Court.’

Thorsen knew that he could create research papers that, using Danish data, could reach conclusions that CDC and Big Pharma desperately needed in order to defend themselves in the OAP.

Thorsen collaborated with CDC scientists on influential epidemiological studies in the early 2000s, most notably the 2002 New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) paper on the MMR vaccine and autism, and the 2003 Pediatrics paper on thimerosal, a mercury-containing preservative used in vaccines.

According to mainstream medicine and legacy media, both studies concluded there was no causal link between the MMR and the incidence of autism.

That was and still is the official narrative.

However, when one digs deeper, as Grundvig did in his book, the official narratives built upon these papers collapse.

According to a peer-reviewed analysis of the MMR paper by Karl Jablonowski, Ph.D., and Brian Hooker, Ph.D., the research is corrupted by whacky statistical analysis to such a degree that the ‘Numbers Literally Don’t Add Up.’ Even worse is the fact that it is not possible to replicate the NEJM study’s findings because the raw data the researchers used are not available to other researchers.

Let that sink in: the raw data in the research that mainstream medicine asserts, data that proves vaccines do not cause autism, is still not available to American scientists to analyze.

The ghost of Thorsen haunts Danish science – much like the ghost of Hamlet’s father haunts Shakespeare’s Denmark-based classic.

In 2014, Kennedy exposed the flaws of Thorsen’s thimerosal research – and documented real science – arguing for the removal of mercury from vaccines in Thimerosal: Let the Science Speak. In chapter 15, Kennedy calls out Thorsen’s and the CDC’s reliance on flawed European studies.

A series of decisions by the Special Masters, who adjudicate cases in Vaccine Court, all came out flatly against the families in Omnibus Autism Proceedings. Grundvig’s son’s case, for example, was dismissed.

One can feel Grundvig’s personal stake and drive for justice burning through Master Manipulator as he documents his hunt for Thorsen, the man who falsified data that caused his case against the government to fail.

Grundvig found Thorsen living openly in Denmark. He traveled about freely, without a care in the world, as though everyone else in the Danish scientific community had also stolen U.S tax dollars.

Thorsen purchased a home in Sweden and practiced gynecology in nearby Middelfart, Denmark. He lived as though the 22 counts of wire fraud that the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General pinned on him were of no consequence.

Why did Thorsen commit fraud after already making good money from CDC grants? Perhaps as the man responsible for saving the vaccine industry, Thorsen felt that he was entitled to a few extra million dollars.

Maybe some people in the CDC and federal government felt the same way. Is that why he comfortably avoided arrest for so long?

But Grundvig never stopped pursuing Thorsen.

Grundvig knew that Thorsen’s crimes were more than just fraud; they were crimes against America’s children and families.

Had the truth about the link between vaccine injury and autism not been suppressed – and Thorsen’s science helped suppress it – people would no longer treat vaccines as medicine’s sacred cow. And here might be fewer young people with autism. We might also have seen a different public health approach to the Covid pandemic.

I caught up with Grundvig a few days ago and asked him questions, which are edited below for clarity and length.

The MAHA Report: You describe Thorsen as a master manipulator. Why? Why do you believe he is anything more than just a common criminal?

Grundvig: Thorsen was the quintessential “accidental” foreign visiting scientist at the CDC in 1999-2000. When he learned about the CDC’s vaccine-autism problem, Thorsen leveraged his knowledge of Danish health data to give CDC what they needed. And Thorsen knew that they needed him because only a member of the Danish scientific community could get access to Danish health registry data.

Beyond the 22-count indictment of money laundering and wire fraud, Thorsen manipulated his employees at NANEA, at Aarhus University in Denmark, at the CDC, and beyond.

The MAHA Report: Thorsen established NANEA. Give us background on that organization. Why did it serve as a template for the research that was conducted on autism and vaccines?

Grundvig: Dr. Poul Thorsen’s dream of turning his neuro-epidemiology startup into a hub for science research, solving the CDC’s problems of not doing double-blind placebo clinical trials by mining the Danish Health Registry, must have looked brilliant at the time. But Thorsen’s ego, thirst for money and fame, and lack of moral clarity derailed those plans.

As Dr. Madsen told me in a July 2015 interview, “Thorsen was a used car salesman.” To me that signaled Thorsen was neither a topflight scientist nor a businessman fit to grow and scale a scientific research startup. He might have been a “rainmaker” to keep CDC money flowing into Denmark scientific institutions and universities, but he did not have the ability to raise investor capital or manage a team of employees.

The MAHA Report: Do you believe that Thorsen had inside help in perpetrating his fraud? Wasn’t he supposed to be supervised by CDC staff?

Grundvig: Yes. In order to conduct the embezzlement, Thorsen needed inside help. As a foreign visiting scientist, he did have a CDC Credit Union bank account. But I doubt he used his own personal account. I believe he may have had help from his mistress, a former CDC administrator who was supposed to supervise Thorsen’s grant activities and her boss, Dr. Coleen Boyle.

For falsified invoices to work, he needed a CDC email address that was not his as well as CDC letterhead, so that bills could be sent from the CDC to [the Danish] Aarhus University health department. Then, money wired to the CDC Credit Union bank account would not raise suspicion.

That money conduit worked for a while and Thorsen lived the high life. It worked all the way into the 2008 financial crash—his last two withdrawals came on Halloween 2008—when governments and the programs worldwide came under stress, review, audit, and belt-tightening.

You could say that one silver lining to the 2008 great recession not only exposed the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme, but also Thorsen’s theft of U.S. taxpayers’ money.

The MAHA Report: What did Thorsen do at Aarhus University? Why was he let go from that university?

Grundvig: Fallout from the 2008 financial crash exposed fault lines in the finances of Aarhus University. By spring of 2009, a new dean was tasked to run financial audits on past expenditures. It was during that time period that the university was tipped off about Thorsen’s and NANEA’s improprieties.

It took a while for the new dean to come to understand the full scope of Thorsen’s crimes. On January 22, 2010, the dean wrote an unusual, three-page public statement disassociating all ties with their former rainmaker, Thorsen.

Just like the U.S. Department of Justice, Denmark began investigating Thorsen and his debris field of financial crimes.

The MAHA Report: Do vaccine advocates like Paul Offit claim to minimize Thorsen’s impact on the science his organization produced?

Grundvig: I met Dr. Paul Offit at the fall 2016 Advisory Commission on Immunization Practices (ACIP) meeting at the CDC headquarters. I approached him with a copy of my book, Master Manipulator. Offit threw his hands up in the air as if the book was radioactive.

I was amused. I said, “Look, Paul, the introduction is by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., I autographed it for you, and it’s the story about the other Poul.”

Offit snapped, “Get that shit out of here.”

Offit, like others at the CDC, like Diana Schendel and Danish institutions – they all spew the same lie and say they stand by their science.

The MAHA Report: What impact did Thorsen’s studies have on cases in the Omnibus Autism Proceedings?

Grundvig: Unfortunately for my son’s case and the 5,400 other cases, none of their injuries and claims were ever heard. That also impacted millions of other vaccine-injured children with autism during that time and afterwards.

The U.S. government, in particular the old guard at the CDC and the Obama Justice Department, committed more than fraud. They destroyed a major swath of the millennial generation by being criminally complicit with scientific fraud.

The MAHA Report: Do you believe Thorsen would have been brought to justice without the work of RFK Jr?

Grundvig: Denmark would never have extradited fugitive and rogue scientist Poul Thorsen under any circumstances. It would have opened a much bigger Pandora’s box than a few million missing dollars. It would have triggered an investigation into Denmark’s stellar reputation in epidemiology research and the way it leverages its world-renowned health database.

HSS Secretary Kennedy understood this and moved swiftly to have Interpol arrest Thorsen in Germany at a conference in June 2025. This was done with the assistance of the U.S. State Department and with the blessing of President Trump. All kudos to Secretary Kennedy and the rest of the U.S. government for making it happen.

The MAHA Report: What do you think will ultimately happen to Thorsen now that he’s in U.S. custody in Atlanta – what do you hope will happen to him?

Grundvig: I believe Thorsen has no more cons left to pull. At age 65, he’s looking at 22 counts that each carry over one year of jail time. He is looking at dying in jail so I am sure he’s looking to cut a deal to get the sentence down to something like five years.

I wonder if he might have some bad blood with CDC executives. He wouldn’t have any problem throwing them under the bus.

It’s time for Poul Thorsen to start singing.

The Pfizer/ BioNTech trial was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of an updated Covid vaccine for healthy adults aged 50 to 64 by comparing vaccine recipients with a placebo-control group.

In a March 30 letter, however, Pfizer told trial investigators that the company would stop surveillance on all study participants after April 3, Reuters reported.

The letter explained that enrollment in the trial was closed on March 6 after a review of current epidemiological trends.

The decision to halt the trial was made at a time of weakened demand for the shots. CDC data shows that only 18 percent ⁠of Americans received ​a Covid booster in the 2025–26 season.

Just 8.1 percent of children and 16 percent of adults took the Covid-19 vaccine in 2025, according to CDC figures.

Doses given in pharmacies and doctor offices declined from 27.8 million in 2024 to 20.5 million in 2025.

No Covid-19 vaccine currently has full FDA approval for healthy adults 50-64.

In 2025, the FDA withdrew emergency authorization for Covid-19 vaccines from Pfizer, BioNTech, Moderna, and Novavax. The agency did approve Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Novavax Covid-19 vaccines for people aged 65 and older.

Last August, Pfizer and BioNTech said they would implement a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of their Covid-19 vaccine in adults 50 to 64 who do not have any health conditions that place them at an increased risk for the virus.

The FDA approved the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for people 65 and older, and those 5 to 64 with a risk condition, in 2025.

Following the FDA’s updated approvals, the CDC announced that people who wanted a Covid-19 vaccine should consult with a medical professional and consider individual health factors, along with risks and benefits of the shots.

Last May, HHS stopped recommending the Covid-19 vaccination for healthy children and pregnant women.

The CDC no longer broadly recommends the Covid 19 shot. Each person should consider individual factors and consult with their doctor before getting a vaccine, the agency noted.

“Informed consent is back,” then acting director of the CDC Jim O’Neill said in a statement on Oct. 6. He continued, “CDC’s 2022 blanket recommendation for perpetual Covid-19 boosters deterred health care providers from talking about the risks and benefits of vaccination for the individual patient or parent. That changes today.”

The Pfizer/BioNTech trial intended to register between 25,000 to 30,000 healthy adults between the ages of 50 and 64. That is a population the FDA required to be studied in a large, placebo-controlled trial before the vaccine could be recommended for people in that age range.

Pfizer and BioNTech insisted that their decision was not made because of safety concerns.

“The study is not ending as a result of any safety or benefit-risk concerns,” Pfizer and BioNTech said in a statement to Reuters. “We intend to stop the study due to slow enrollment and therefore the inability to generate relevant post-marketing data.”

It was difficult to build enrollment because participants were required to have no chronic conditions, a contract research organization executive said. “This is a very difficult population to recruit.”

A similar Moderna study targeting 30,000 volunteers is also facing recruitment challenges at multiple sites, Reuters reported. The trial remains ongoing and is expected to be completed in June 2027.

On March 16, a federal judge temporarily halted sweeping changes to the U.S. childhood vaccine schedule, putting Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s vaccine reform efforts on pause and setting off a new phase in an already heated national debate.

To many, the ruling appears to be influenced by pro-vaccine ideology, couched in strained legal contortions that defy legal precedent and logic. Critics allege that federal Judge Brian Murphy, whose rulings against the Trump administration regarding immigration enforcement have been repeatedly overturned, is just at it again, replacing HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s administrative authority with his own opinion. As Rick Jaffe, Esq., of Children’s Health Defense explains, Judge Murphy effectively shut down any comprehensive review of vaccine safety or recommendations of vaccines, indefinitely.

The court’s decision raises a fundamental question: who should have the authority to shape public health policy in America? A federal judge or, as is typically done, an outside advisory committee of science experts? Judge Murphy objected to HHS Secretary Kennedy’s dismissal of ACIP committee members for conflicts of interest, and dismissed Kennedy’s conflict-free selections for not being pro-vaccine. That’s pretty ideological!

As Americans call for greater transparency and accountability in health decision-making that affects every family with children, Judge Murphy’s legal construction offers them the opposite. Secretary Kennedy has often warned that U.S. regulatory agencies are “captured” by corporate interests. They appear to have captured some judges as well.

In Massachusetts, at least, the question of who determines vaccine policy was answered when Judge Murphy sided with major medical groups that claimed the recent vaccine changes were not based on science. Murphy issued a preliminary injunction blocking key elements of HHS’s vaccine recommendations and preventing the outside Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) from holding its next scheduled meeting.

A week after Murphy’s decision, ACIP’s vice chair, Dr. Robert Malone, resigned, telling The New York Times, “Hundreds of hours of uncompensated labor, incredible hate from many quarters, hostile press, internal bickering, weaponized leaking, sabotage.” He added. “I have better things to do.”

It’s not difficult to understand why Dr. Malone would be frustrated. The ACIP, an expert panel of physicians, epidemiologists, and public health specialists, is empowered by the government to make vaccine recommendations; a federal court judge is not.

In this case, however, a federal judge found a way to side-step the ACIP, concluding that HHS likely violated the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) in appointing the newly restructured ACIP, citing concerns about balance and independence. Supporters of Secretary Kennedy argue that this interpretation is unusually broad.

Kennedy has said the previous ACIP system had long been shaped by entrenched outside influence, and his allies contend that FACA was intended to prevent conflicts of interest and regulatory capture, not to exclude newly appointed experts who align with an administration’s reform agenda. Because ACIP appointments have historically followed a similar process, critics say the ruling reflects an unusually politicized interpretation of that precedent.

For Kennedy supporters, that creates a Catch-22: leave the existing system in place and critics say the same institutional interests remain in control; try to reform it, and the reform itself is challenged as procedurally illegitimate. Members are required to disclose potential conflicts of interest, but the panel has historically operated within the conventional public health framework, which emphasizes population-wide vaccination strategies over individualized decision-making. As a result, the court paused both the updated vaccine schedule and actions taken by a newly restructured advisory committee while the case moves forward.

The Boston decision is not final, but the ruling is meant to preserve the status quo until broader legal questions are resolved. Still, its impact is immediate. For most Americans, vaccine policy feels distant—something decided by experts behind closed doors rather than reflecting the voices and decisions of the people it affects.

In reality, these recommendations shape everyday medical care, influencing which vaccines are routinely offered to children, what insurance plans are required to cover, and what doctors recommend in clinical practice.

Programs like Vaccines for Children, which provides no-cost vaccines to millions of kids, are directly tied to these federal recommendations. When the schedule changes, or is blocked, it has real-world consequences for access, cost, and care decisions. The CDC has indicated that some vaccines moved from the routine schedule may still remain available through shared clinical decision-making and existing federal coverage pathways.

The legal arguments in this case are complex, but the broader divide is easier to understand.

At its core, the dispute centers on whether federal health agencies followed the required process for changing vaccine recommendations, including the role of the ACIP.

Secretary Kennedy and HHS say they are trying to address long-standing concerns around transparency, conflicts of interest, and whether current vaccine recommendations fully reflect the needs and realities of today’s families. Supporters argue that reform is needed to restore public trust and allow more flexibility in medical decision-making.

Even if you’re entirely pro-vaccines, supporting Murphy’s decision means you support the notion that a district judge can shut down all policy in the federal government related to vaccines. In other words, if there’s an Ebola outbreak next week and you want a vaccine, you need to go through the federal judge to get a vaccine rather than the government.

It’s not surprising that trust in public health institutions has declined in recent years, particularly after COVID-19, while demand for transparency, credible research, and accountability has grown. At the same time, more Americans are asking to have a greater voice in their own medical decisions, and in decisions affecting their children. This case sits directly at the intersection of those concerns.

Both Children’s Health Defense (whose previous motion to intervene in the case was dismissed by Murphy) and the Federal Department of Health and Human Services announced plans to appeal the decision. Appeals must be filed within 30 days of the judge’s March 16 ruling, and will be heard by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. CHD has already submitted its appeal to intervene and to overturn the judge’s ruling.

Depending on how that court rules, the dispute could quickly move to the U.S. Supreme Court, where larger questions about federal authority and public health policy may be decided. Many legal observers predict Murphy will rack up another reversal.

This pause may be temporary. But the broader debate is not. Regardless of how the courts ultimately rule, this moment has brought into sharper focus a deeper issue: who controls public health policy, and whether our citizens should have greater autonomy in their health decisions. At its core, this is about health sovereignty.
